The Ashland High School Interact Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ashland, made a generous donation of $1,000 to the Ashland Community Food Bank (ACFB) on December 12, 2024. This contribution brings the Interact Club’s total donation to ACFB for the year to $3,000, demonstrating the club’s continued commitment to supporting local families in need.
Leo Garcia of Ashland High School and Erika Thompson of the Ashland Schools Foundation presented the donation to Amey Broeker, Executive Director of the Ashland Community Food Bank, during a small ceremony at the weekly Rotary luncheon meeting. The funds will be used to support the food bank’s mission of providing nutritious food to individuals and families throughout the Ashland community.
“We are proud to support the Ashland Community Food Bank, whose work is vital to our community,” said Garcia, a member of the Interact Club. “As young people, it’s important for us to give back and help make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
This donation is part of a year-round initiative led by the Interact Club, which organizes fundraising and community service projects aimed at supporting local causes. The Rotary Club of Ashland has been a steadfast partner in these efforts, providing mentorship and guidance to the students as they work to make a positive impact.
Amey Broeker, Executive Director of ACFB, expressed gratitude for the continued support from the Interact Club and the Rotary Club of Ashland. “The generosity of these young community leaders is truly inspiring,” Broeker said. “This donation helps ensure that we can continue providing critical food assistance to families in Ashland, especially as we head into the colder months.”
The Ashland Community Food Bank relies on donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations to serve the community. In addition to monetary donations, the food bank accepts non-perishable food items and other forms of support.

If your club is in Oregon, the Interact Club of Ashland is using the Blue Bag program from Oregon’s Bottle Drop for 10 cent Oregon deposit canisters. With over 700 bags out in the community it is self sustaining as citizens and businesses fill the Blue Bags and drop them off at a nearby location and money is deposited direct to their non profit. Currently this generates over $100 a month while cleaning up our state and recycling containers. For questions or how to set this up contact Alan DeBoer at 541-944-1600
