Dear Members of the Rotary Club of Albany,
I am writing to respectfully request your sponsorship for my application to the Rotary Peace Fellowship, with Makerere University in Uganda as my proposed host institution.
My proposed fellowship focuses on peacebuilding at the intersection of climate change, land degradation, and community resilience in East Africa, with particular emphasis on Uganda and northern Kenya. The initiative would use community‑led ecological restoration—such as watershed rehabilitation, agroforestry, and rangeland restoration—as a practical entry point for dialogue, cooperation, and conflict‑sensitive decision‑making. The work is grounded in Rotary’s core values of Service Above Self, integrity, and the promotion of goodwill and peace, and emphasizes listening, partnership, and long‑term local capacity rather than externally driven solutions.
I am seeking sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Albany not as a financial commitment, but as an endorsement of alignment with Rotary’s mission and peacebuilding ideals. Your support would represent a meaningful link between local service in Oregon and global peace efforts rooted in communities most affected by environmental stress.
I would welcome the opportunity to speak briefly with the Club or to provide any additional information you may need. Thank you for your consideration and for your continued commitment to service, leadership, and peace.
With respect and gratitude,
John Klock
