On January 8th, a gathering of Rotary District 5110 Youth Exchange applicants for 2023-2024 met at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club in Corvallis, Oregon. The three-day event, organized by the Youth Exchange Committee (YEX), also included fifteen (15) inbound students from clubs around the district.
The Sunday meeting was the most exciting element for the twenty-three outbound students aspirants and their parents/guardians: discovering their destination country. At that time, the students were provided envelopes with the information, and after a vocal countdown, their country location was revealed, eliciting smiles and excitement from all.
District Governor Aimee Walsh, a veteran of the student exchange program, provided encouragement to all student participants, wishing them the best of luck for a great experience. Appreciation was extended to the Corvallis area Rotarians who opened up their homes as hosts to the students and to the YEX Committee for their dedication and commitment to the program. Gratitude was also extended to the District Rotary clubs that sponsor either incoming or outgoing exchange students.

Hi,
My name is Bob Archer. I am with the Monmouth Independence Rotary club and am the country officer for Japan on the D5100 youth exchange committee. One of my counterparts in Japan is looking for a club to sponsor a student. Do you have any openings, and would you like me to pass on my counterparts contact info?
YIRS,
Bob
