Is it FAIR to all concerned? Let’s examine our meeting traditions with this focus at the next District Membership Forum. Tuesday, January 17th, at 10 am.
People join Rotary and stay in Rotary if they feel a sense of belonging. Our job as club leaders is to make sure we are creating that sense. As our potential member demographic evolves, we must too. We must give them what they want to feel part of Rotary.
We’ll talk about making various members or potential members comfortable. Are they huggers, for example? Or not? Are they Christian, or not? Are they American citizens and do they want to pledge allegiance, or not? How we structure our meetings can give them comfort and a sense of belonging – or strip it away.
The future of Rotary depends on you, our leaders, creating a sense of belonging. This is all food for discussion at our next District Membership Forum. Club Presidents, Presidents-Elect, and Membership Chairs will get the zoom link to join us next Monday. Anyone is welcome.

Christine, you make such a tremendous contribution to the health of our District with your very timely topics every month! The upcoming Membership Forum will be no exception. A quick question: is the link also sent monthly to AG’s in the District? I imagine they will not only be personally interested in attending, but also in promoting attendance by the club members with whom they work!
