Eugene Southtowne Club’s past president, Chris Waugh, will serve 5110 as the Rotary District Governor in 2025-2026. To prepare for this position, she is currently District Governor Designate. Next year she will be District Governor Nominee, and the following year she’ll be District Governor Elect. “It’s quite a process of training and preparation to be the DG, and I’m looking forward to it,” Chris said.
Although she was encouraged, she almost didn’t apply. She had questions and excuses not to do it. Why me? Why now? I’m too busy, aren’t I? But, in the end, she decided she wanted to support District 5110 as it takes on the challenges of the future.
“Membership attraction and retention are my passions,” she said, “and we have to think differently going forward. We’ll need to experiment and try new ideas. Rotary International has relaxed some of the old standards and processes. While we don’t want to alienate our long-term members, we need to flex to the needs of younger working people.
“People are fed up with the news and want to do something positive – to make a difference! Rotary is the answer.” And, she believes, we haven’t peaked yet!
