On July 9 forty Rotarians from all around the District met in person for the first Quarterly Grants Meeting of the new Rotary Year. We opened the meeting with a touching tribute by the Ukrainian Military Chorus, performing our national anthem in thanks for all the support pouring in from the United States.
District Governor Aimee Walsh shared that this year we will “Dream Big, and Take Action.” Aimee and incoming District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair (DRFCC), Cindi O’Neil, thanked out-going DRFCC Tim Mobley for his exemplary years of service to further the mission of the Rotary Foundation.
Special guest speaker Dr Kasia Bednarek-Rajewska, doctor of pathology in Poland shared how she has coordinated $95,000 in funding from District 5110. A former Youth Exchange Student sponsored by the Rotary Club of Grants Pass of thirty years ago, is now coordinating medical supply purchasing and delivery to three hospitals in western Ukraine. The RC Grants Pass, with help from former host parent Rotarian Steve Swearingen, has coordinated multiple donations for this effort through their Club, sending the funds directly to Kasia for this important humanitarian work.
