Rotary Leadership Institute graduates twenty-two!

RLI produces educated and informed Rotarians.

District Governor 2018-2019

Last weekend 22 dedicated Rotarians completed D5110’s 2-day RLI program in Bend.  Graduates included past-presidents, presidents-elect, club directors and even an assistant governor.  RLI is a grassroots Rotary leadership development program for Rotarians established on the reality that an informed and educated Rotarian is a more effective Rotarian.

D5110’s program is interactive, using facilitation and principals of adult learning.  Facilitators for RLI-Bend included DG Aimee Walsh, PDGs Gerry Kosanovic and Cindi O’Neil, DGN Chris Waugh, Judy Corwin, Mike Corwin and Rotaractor Zoe Hershenson.

Post-event feedback reinforces the value of RLI for participants.  Summing this up best, one RLI-Bend graduate wrote:  I had a great time and loved the opportunity to meet with other Rotarians and learn. I certainly got more of an overview of what Rotary is all about.  I enjoyed learning more ways to effectively communicate to others ‘What is Rotary.’  A few of my favorite slogans from the weekend are, ‘learn how to attract not recruit’ and ‘we are not just growing Rotary, we are growing Rotarians.’

This D5110 professional development, continuing education program is available for any District Rotarian motivated to increase their Rotary knowledge and leadership skills.  PDGs Bill Grile and Gerry Kosanovic will soon start planning the next RLI event, which will be held sometime next summer somewhere on the South Coast.  Watch for details.  Club president-elects may want to consider budgeting some resources to help defer the cost of sending members to RLI.
