Tulelake Rotary Holiday Food Boxes

Spreading holiday cheer

By Katie Walker

Thanks to a District Grant plus our club match, we gathered with Tulelake High School students on November 16th to pack 100 holiday food boxes for local area youth. It has become an annual tradition in which we prepurchase the food items, haul it into our club meeting location, and lay all the food out in assembly line fashion. From there we overfill 50 lb potato boxes as we slide the boxes down the assembly line, and the last person in line has the joy of trying to stuff the lids on over all the goods. Afterwords, the boxes are hefted out to the waiting truck and trailers to be hauled to the 5 local schools we serve. Our club is forever grateful for the opportunity to fill these boxes, and we look forward to this group activity each year.
