RYLA Co-Chairs Dell Gray and Mary Hoskins, along with an energized executive committee and enthusiastic supporters from all around District 5110, have initiated the planning for RYLA 2023. Camp dates are Tuesday, June 20, through Sunday morning, June 25. We’ll gather again at Grove Camp, Dorena, Oregon, along with our partners from True North Consulting and a full staff of outstanding counselors. As always, the RYLA experience includes bus transportation, lodging, home-cooked meals and snacks, and a curriculum designed by educators especially for teen leaders.
We are planning for a full camp of 144 high school sophomores and juniors. RYLA is a scholarship program for young leaders who are recruited, selected and sponsored by Rotary clubs. We’re looking, as always, for students who are willing and able to challenge themselves mentally and emotionally, and who can work successfully in an intense team environment. We require that Rotarians interview each candidate – RYLA succeeds with quality participants who arrive ready and willing to grow. The experience is described by many as “life-changing.”
With careful stewardship and support from our partners, we’ve kept the cost for a sponsorship, which is all-inclusive, at $600. Clubs will receive Camper Billing documents and should send checks to RYLA Co-Chair Dell Gray at the address on the form. Payment reserves places at RYLA and we encourage clubs to send payments as soon as possible. Forms for student applicants will be available in DACdb (look for District Files, “Public”) and on the District 5110 website. Application deadline is May 5, 2023.
