June 28, 2022 — Our successful Camp RYLA came to a happy conclusion on June 23rd – campers, staff and Rotarians left tired, fulfilled, and renewed. Our first in-person camp since 2019 gave us some challenges, but the camper reviews are enthusiastic and positive! We started with cold, wet weather which transformed on Day 3 into brilliant sunshine and warmth (and a few allergies!) – Grove Camp is a lush, forested environment with gorgeous mature trees, scores of birds, and the Row River running through. The highlight of Day 4 was a huge slip-n-slide that provided a lively, welcome contrast to the heavier, powerful elements of RYLA.

Our RYLA staff was diverse, capable, and energetic. They quickly formed an effective leadership team, and, in a safe and affirming environment, campers challenged themselves to learn and grow as individuals and team members. Every year, it’s gratifying and inspiring to witness the growth in participants – we call it “RYLA magic.” Our partnerships with True North Consulting and Grove Camp are robust, healthy and thriving.

If your club sponsored campers, please connect with them soon to invite them to make a RYLA presentation at a Rotary meeting. Your generosity has provided a life-changing experience – campers regularly express their appreciation for the opportunity, and their sharing will remind you about why you sponsor them.

Mark your calendars: RYLA 2023 is scheduled for June 20-25. (Note a change: Camp will start on Tuesday and end on Sunday morning.) Dell Gray and Mary Hoskins will be 2023 RYLA Co-Chairs, and Lakeview Rotarian Robie McGowen will take over as RYLA Chair and Camp Director in 2024.
