Grant Information

District and Global Grants

Rotary Foundation grants support Rotarians and Rotary clubs in their educational and humanitarian efforts both locally and around the world. There are several types of Rotary grants.  Two that will be described are District Grants and Global Grants. Specific Grant Resources, such as how-to videos and presentations, are at the bottom of this page.

District Grants

District Grants may be used for local community or international projects. They are intended for smaller projects to be completed within 12 months and do not require an international partner. These grants still require active Rotarian involvement and the need to meet eligibility requirements set forth in the Terms and Conditions for Rotary Foundation grants. They are not required to support the areas of focus. For a club to qualify for a District Grant, one club member needs to attend the District Grant Training or watch the training video.

  • Humanitarian projects, including service travel and disaster recovery efforts
  • Scholarships for any level, length of time, place, or area of study
  • Vocational training of any team size or time span

TO APPLY FOR A DISTRICT GRANT

By JUNE 1 of each year, the  sponsoring (lead) club must submit a complete project proposal using the DACdb online application.

Note: If clubs are partnering on a district grant and not handling any money,  the partner clubs do not need to qualify their clubs but must demonstrate active Rotarian participation in the project.   Partnerships on a grant will be considered the first priority for each club on the grant.

To receive approval of your grant project, any necessary changes to your  application in DACdb must be complete no later than OCTOBER 15. All project final reports need to be completed by December 31st of the following Rotary year and no further grants will be funded until the final report is complete.

Login to the DACdb District Grants Application to see all applicable dates and links to documents, i.e., MOP, FMP and so forth.

Global Grants

Global grants support large, multi-year international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in one or more of the seven Areas of Focus and must have minimum budget of $30,000. Focus areas are

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development
  • Supporting the environment

TO APPLY FOR A GLOBAL GRANT

At least 30 days prior to a quarterly grants meeting, complete and send the “Global Grant Pre-Application” form to Global Grants Chair Ralph Christiansen at rxensen@hotmail.com and LeAnn Mobley at leann.mobley@gmail.com.  Four grants meetings are offered each year.  Check the Calendar in DACdb for the annual dates.  A total of two (2) people are required to take the Global Grant full course or refresher course each year in the Rotary Learning Center on My Rotary.
