Many of you have heard of StoveTeam International. This life-saving, life-giving NGO is CNN Hero and Southtowne Rotarian Nancy Hughes’ life’s work. But do you know how much they are changing lives all over Central America and Mexico with low-smoke, fuel-efficient, and safe cookstoves?

Want to know how Rotarians and volunteers collaborate with local communities to support families while protecting the environment and preventing climate change?

You are invited to the Rotary Club of Eugene Metropolitan this Tuesday night, November 15th, 2022 at 6 pm Pacific.

Board Chair Kim Forrest will take you to Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Mexico to introduce you to the families and communities who’ve already prevented nearly one million tons of CO2 from entering our atmosphere by producing, installing, and using more than 79,000 eco stoves.

StoveTeam is creating local jobs. They’re preventing air pollution. They’re reducing deforestation. They’re reducing the number of preventable burn injuries from open-fire indoor cooking.

“Each year, smoke inhalation from indoor cooking fires kills more people than malaria and AIDS combined.” – Stove Team International.

Come ready to be inspired.

Comment below for the Zoom link or join us in downtown Eugene at our favorite local restaurant The Davis on Broadway and Olive.

As always, all are welcome. Bring a friend!

  1. I was out of town and missed this presentation. Can I find a recording of it. If so, please send me that link. It sounds very interesting.
