Prior to the Bend Club’s noon meeting, I met with President Mike Mowery, PDG Cindi O’Neil and AG Tonya Bernardy and started a plan for a new District Disaster Relief Fund. (Stay tuned on that exciting news.) Next, I sat in on Session 1 of the club’s 4-part New Member Training. It was excellent – contact Bend Membership Chair, Julie Brown, to find out what they do. Wood-fired pizza and salad made for a fabulous lunch.
During the meeting, Julie Brown asked me to help give new member Tom Graup his Blue Badge. Tom is already the webmaster and photographer. What a way to get involved! (Another reason to contact Julie about their onboarding process!)
I had the opportunity to talk briefly about why Rotary stands out from all of the other non-profit organizations and service opportunities. The way we leverage our resources is unparalleled!
We heard from Chris Gardner of the KIDS Center, who reminded the club of how vital community partnerships can shape lives. The Bend Club’s dedication to Central Oregon’s children continues to make a meaningful impact.
