At noon on the 6th, the Newport Club met at its new location – the Pacific Maritime Museum. President Brian Gardner reports that change has upped their attendance of members and guests!

Brian awarded several club rock stars: Guy Faust (for his leadership in the Microplastics Cleanup Project), Mark Miranda, Rick Day, Tonya Saxton, Jon Zagel, and Julia Dobies. Every club has members who, in big ways and behind the scenes, deserve to be recognized. Who are yours?

After the meeting, Guy Faust previewed the latest video about the Microplastics Cleanup. Newport has really taken on a mission to help clean up the environment. They are even planning water refill stations to encourage visitors to use refillable water bottles instead of plastic.

(Their lunch was served on recyclable products.)

Meanwhile, I noticed Jon Zagel, tech wizard and creator of their awesome new website, wrapping and stowing gear and cords in preparation for their next meeting.
