How can Rotary help end human trafficking? Join the Rotary Club of Eugene Metropolitan on Tuesday, March 26th at 6 pm Pacific for a presentation from attorney and Rotarian Susanna Southworth, PhD, JD.
Counselor Southworth is a member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association and one of the founding attorneys at Restore the Child, a life-changing law firm representing families whose children have been victims of sex abuse.
Southworth is also the President-Elect for the Rotary Club of the Pacific Northwest and is passionately advocating for anti-trafficking as Rotary’s eighth Area of Focus.
They are ambitious and they are committed. “The Rotary Club of the PNW Ending Sex Trafficking engages its members and the community to work together to end sex trafficking in the Pacific Northwest through the inclusion of survivor leaders as subject matter experts, education, service, fellowship, networking, and skill-sharing. We leverage efforts and resources to build momentum for our cause by maintaining joy, grace, patience, persistence, and levity in the process.”
From Southworth’s bio: “Immigration law and politics are Ms. Southworth’s primary research interests, particularly in the United States, Western Europe, and Latin America. Ms. Southworth intends to utilize her FLAS Portuguese language training in order to conduct field research in Portugal on the topic of immigration integration initiatives. Prior to beginning the PhD program, Ms. Southworth provided legal assistance to refugees at both the International Rescue Committee and Catholic Community Services in Salt Lake City. She also defended detainees facing deportation in immigration court in Tacoma and Seattle, Washington for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. Her long-term goal is to make a broader and positive impact on immigration policy through scholarly research, writing, and teaching.”
