The Rotary Club of Eugene is issuing a challenge to all District 5110 clubs
— join us in taking action to fight hunger in our communities!
Knowing the unprecedented hunger and uncertainty families are facing today, our club members have stepped up to respond. In Lane County, more than 75,000 individuals, including 22,000 children and 12,000 seniors, face food insecurity and hunger. Sadly, this need extends far beyond our community — it’s a national crisis that calls for Rotary leadership and compassion.
Over the next three weeks, the Rotary Club of Eugene will collect gifts of food and cash at our meetings. Financial gifts allow food pantries to purchase items at lower costs, stretching every dollar to feed more families. All food and funds collected will support Food For Lane County in our outreach.
We invite and challenge every Rotary club in District 5110 to join us in this effort to partner with your local food banks, gather donations, and show your community that Rotarians are People of Action. Together, we can fill pantry shelves, bring hope to families, and make a measurable impact across our District. if your club is already answering this call to action, thank you for your great work!
Our local Food For Lane County has created a helpful Toolkit with ideas and a list of most-needed items — a great resource for any club starting a food drive.
Let’s make this a District-wide movement!

Approximately one month ago Rotary Club of Sunriver LaPine distributed grocery bags to our members, with an attached list of needed items. Bags were provided by First Interstate Bank, using lists from the local Care and Share food program. Part of a larger community-wide effort including churches and individuals. Food and housekeeping items are being taken to collection points at First Interstate Bank and local churches. As a distributed effort, no attempt has been made to track the total contributions by members. Our Club provides financial support to Care and Share and LaPine Community kitchen.

Last week, members of The Rotary Club of Sisters contributed nearly $1,000 to the Sisters Food Bank through the local Kiwanis Club. The need is great! Sisters Rotary includes 34 active members.
