World Bicycle Relief program

by Heather Edwards

Eugene Metro welcomed World Bicycle Relief to their club this week. These innovative philanthropists specially design bikes and assemble them locally – specifically in rural developing parts of the world. They are forward thinkers – access is everything! These bikes provide students better access to education, they help healthcare workers visit more patients, and give entrepreneurs better transport to their community markets. Strategic philanthropy makes the biggest impact and the most lasting change.

“Our bikes are all distributed brand new, cost $147 to produce, and are maintained and cared for by our trained field-based mechanics, all of which makes for a very sustainable and scalable program. We are committed to helping people conquer the challenge of distance, achieve independence, and thrive – truly changing lives.”
