PDG Roberto Silva Perez (D4340) joins the Port Orford Rotary Club on September 19th at 12:30 pm Pacific with an insightful presentation on Global Grants. He will join us from Santiago, Chile to talk about two things: 1. The Curacaví Physical Rehabilitation Global Grant project, and 2. Why we shouldn’t be intimidated by applying for Global Grants.
As a key participant in seven Global Grants, PDG Silva believes in both the impact of the projects GGs fund and in the power of partnership when clubs from all over the world work together.
A 9x Paul Harris Fellow, he has served extensively as a translator throughout the Rotary world. He was the 2010 GSE Team Leader to Southwestern Ontario, Canada (D7080). He has participated in Rotary Institutes in Perú, Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay, in addition to his native Chile. He has attended RI Conventions in Georgia and Brazil and virtually to Hawaii and Taiwan. He is an active member of ESRAG, Rotary Youth Exchange, and the District Executive Committee. He also enjoys numerous Rotary fellowships including leadership, ethics, wine, coffee & tea, and tennis.
He is an honorary member of the Club Rotario Rapa Nui in Easter Island and the Club Rotario Curacaví. He and his daughter Constanza Silva Irarrázabal (Past President of Rotaract Club and founding member of the Club Rotario Metropolitano de Santiago) are both honorary members of the Rotary Club of Eugene Metropolitan. They are frequent guests in District 5110 via Zoom. During the pandemic, they graciously and creatively served as guest mixologists for Eugene Metro’s International Mixology virtual fundraiser.
In 2022, the 5110 Rotary clubs of Greater Corvallis, Springfield Twin Rivers, and Eugene Metropolitan partnered with the Rotary clubs of Curacaví and Metropolitano de Santiago in Chile, an Argentinian district and several other US clubs for a successful Global Grant spearheaded by PDG Silva.
