Reducing Gender Based Violence and a Song

This is the 5th in our update on D5110 involvement’s with RI’s Peace Fellowship Program. Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers.
Nixon Nembaware of Zimbabwe was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Grants Pass, where he continues to have several friends. He completed his master’s degree studies at the International Christian University Rotary Peace Center in Tokyo in May 2015. With strong interests in international instruments and gender-based violence, Nixon reports that he has just completed his year as president of the Rotary Club of Harare, the second oldest in Africa after the RC of Johannesburg.
He remains committed to work on gender-based violence issues in many ways including as a consultant supporting nonprofits through research and serving as the chairperson of FathersAgainstAbuse. Currently he is setting up two projects focused on Girls’ Education and another project designed to mentoring men on fatherhood.
Nixon latest news is the birth of his second son. His wife is a nurse and part time painter. To welcome their sons, she paints of them at birth and at one year old and he composes a song.
