Can an E-Club make a real impact? The Rotary E-Club of the State of Jefferson answers with action. Since 2013, their Navajo Solar Light Project has been transforming lives by bringing solar-powered light to off-grid homes on the Navajo Nation in Arizona. In partnership with the Durango Daybreak Rotary Club, they’ve replaced dangerous kerosene lamps with safe, sustainable lighting, allowing children to study, parents to work, and families to stay connected.
Lighting the Way for a Brighter Future
For many Navajo families, the day ends when the sun sets. Without access to electricity, they rely on expensive gas generators or dim kerosene lamps. These Rotary-installed solar kits change that, providing three LED lights and a phone-charging station. The result?
- Better education—children can study after dark.
- Safer homes—no more hazardous kerosene lamps.
- Stronger connections—phones stay charged for emergencies.
More than just a service project, volunteers work closely with Navajo leaders, gaining a deeper understanding of their history, traditions, and needs. Every installation trip is an opportunity for cultural exchange and personal growth.
The Power of E-Clubs
The State of Jefferson E-Club proves that service isn’t about where you meet—it’s about what you do. They call themselves “Rotary on Your Time” because impact happens on any schedule. Want to be part of something bigger? Learn more at State of Jefferson Rotary E-Club.
