Rotary Club of Newport President 2024-2025

With joyful music, excited kids clutching free books, and Rotarians beaming with pride, Newport’s Día celebration was more than just an event—it was a powerful reminder of how literacy and community go hand in hand.

On April 30, the Newport Public Library was buzzing with energy and excitement during its third annual El Día de los Niños / El Día de los Libros—a vibrant celebration of literacy, culture, and community. More than 500 children and families attended the event, enjoying free books, crafts, games, music, and valuable resources from local and regional partners.

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Newport were out in full force—tabling with pride, taking pictures, greeting families, and handing out hundreds of books purchased with club funds. Their presence reinforced Rotary’s commitment to education and community connection, especially during an event focused on youth and literacy.

The celebration was made possible through generous support from the Newport Public Library Foundation, the Rotary Club of Newport, and the City of Newport, with participation from community partners including Arcoíris Cultural, OSU Extension, the Lincoln County School District, the U.S. Forest Service, and many more.
