Let’s make District 5110 the model district on peace building!

Make Rotary district 5110 a global leader in peacebuilding by supporting the Eugene Rotary Club’s innovative Vocational Training Team project. Your contribution will provide the remaining funding needed to submit our Global Grant proposal to the Rotary Foundation.

Susan Sygall, Rotary Club of Eugene

We have heard at so many meetings how important peace building is to so many Rotary clubs and a personal interest for so many Rotarians.

Here is an opportunity that we think will make our district a global innovator in peace building projects.

The Eugene Rotary Club is proposing a project that will bring 8 men and women with disabilities from Armenia, Brazil El Salvador, Ethiopia, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines and Pakistan for a vocational training team (VTT). They will then go back and do trainings in their communities, making changes to local, national and even international programs and policies.

These amazing peace building activists will be here in Eugene October 3–13, and your club will have an opportunity to participate in some of the activities.

We are so excited that the Rotary Foundation has already told us that this is an exemplary project, and they are ready to fast-track our proposal as soon as we get the remaining $6,450 in pledges that we still need. We hope to submit on August 4, so if you as an individual or as a club want to be part of this project, please contact Susan Sygall sygall@miusa.org and copy Suz Dunn sdunn@miusa.org.

If we could get at least 25 clubs or individual Rotarians to each pledge $250, we will meet our goal!

Let us bring about peace by including the people who are most affected by war, which are disabled people themselves, and let us have this innovative vocational training team create the expertise and the tools needed to bring about more peace in conflict-affected countries.

We thank each and every one of you for contributing to this project by August 4th, and let’s, as we always do in Rotary, make the impossible…possible.
