Italians Enjoy Wine and District 5110 Friendship

A Most Successful Friendship Exchange

In a harmonious blend of culture and camaraderie, the Rotary Friendship Exchange welcomed esteemed Italian winemakers to the picturesque landscapes of Oregon’s wine country. From the rolling hills of Ashland to the lush vineyards of Yamhill County, this cultural immersion showcased the vibrant tapestry of friendship that transcends borders and unites hearts.

Under the meticulous coordination of Camille Ronzio and Gary Plano, this exchange blossomed into an unforgettable odyssey through the artistry of winemaking.

As the Italian delegation traversed the verdant valleys and sun-kissed slopes, they were greeted with open arms by local vintners eager to share their craft. Each winery visit was not merely a tasting but a symphony of flavors, aromas, and stories woven together to celebrate the essence of Oregon’s terroir.

From the bold Pinot Noirs of Willamette Valley to the crisp Chardonnays of Rogue Valley, the guests marveled at the diversity and complexity of Oregonian wines.  Yet, beyond the vineyards, it was the spirit of fellowship that truly defined this exchange. Whether gathered around a rustic table sharing laughter and anecdotes or engaging in thought-provoking discussions on sustainability and innovation in winemaking, bonds were forged that will endure across continents and oceans.

As we bid farewell to our Italian friends, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the enriching experiences we shared and the friendships we forged. In the vineyards of Oregon, amidst the swirling aromas of fine wines, we found not only a celebration of craftsmanship but a celebration of the human spirit itself. Cheers to Camille Ronzio, Gary Plano, and all who contributed to making this exchange a resounding success, proving once again that when we come together in friendship, the possibilities are as endless as the vineyards stretching before us.

Camille, Gary – This looks like a fabulous friendship exchange! And PDG Gerry’s video brings it all together very nicely.

Emily – thanks for the kind words. It was a brilliantly scheduled journey for the Italians, and it was a joy to experience their interactions with Oregon vintners. Similar to global grants, the key was the Rotary connection between the two countries.
