I enjoyed a one-on-one dinner with Brookings President Donna Davidson on August 11, and then attended the club’s lunch meeting the next day. Members were lively, discussing the successful SnackShack project from the weekend and upcoming service opportunities. President Donna invited me to help award a Paul Harris +2 to Judy May-Lopez, while a standing ovation was delivered from everyone.
Bonnie Jordon, Susan Lundsford, and Judy May-Lopez each were awarded Above and Beyond Certificates – President Donna says they always step up to lead and serve. What an example of what great Rotarians do!
Brookings Club has a unique “work for your dues” program where members can volunteer 37 hours to cover dues. An idea worth sharing!
After lunch, our focus shifted to membership—especially attracting younger members. The consensus: target local business owners and managers with leadership training and opportunities to serve in the Brookings community.
Wowza! I left with an awesome gift basket from Brookings!
