I am excited to share with our District details of an upcoming Peace Walk that was shared with me by a fellow Rotarian in the Rogue Valley. This event will occur in Ashland, Oregon, Ashland was proclaimed an International City of Peace by the City Mayor and City Council in 2017.
In the Footsteps of Those Who Walked Before Us – In 2025/26 nineteen Buddhist monks completed a 108-day, 2300-mile journey across America, walking for peace, one step at a time. They carried the conviction that compassion begins with presence, and that walking together changes something in us when words miss the mark.
The Invitation: Gather at the Ashland Library at 12:45 p.m. Walk in silence through the Japanese Garden, letting the quiet beauty soak in. Arrive at the Lithia Park Amphitheater for songs, brief reflections and connections.
The Ask: Peace Organizations & Civic Groups to amplify the message. Wear a Rotary t-shirt! Your involvement says we believe healing is possible and are willing to walk together towards that. Optional sponsorship request for outreach materials and organizational expenses.

Yes, and District 5110 might also want to take a stand for peace by condemning the actions of our own country in starting a war with Iran.
