Rotary Photographers!

As many of you know we are excited to be building a brand new District 5110 website for you. And we want your favorite images to tell Rotary stories.

We are looking for two kinds of pictures – nature photography from within our district and Rotary images that best depict the wide variety of projects and programs we do.

Nature Photography – landscape orientation

Do you have a clear high-resolution photo of Crater Lake? The Deschutes River? Mt. Bachelor? A gorgeous local creek? Lavender fields? Wine country? If you have great images of your region’s natural beauty we would love to include them in a rotation of header images on the new website.

Rotary District 5110 represents two-thirds of Oregon and the northernmost part of California. To best showcase our district’s vast geographic diversity we would like to include header images from the coast, the southern Willamette Valley, Central Oregon, Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon, and Northern California. We’re looking for snow, gardens, trees, birds, water, dessert – everything that makes our corner of the world unique.

Comment below if you’d like to add your artwork to the greater district story. For all of you photography enthusiasts, header images should be landscape orientation with around a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Rotary Program Images – portrait orientation

Are you passionate about Global Grants? Rotary Youth Exchange? District grant-funded projects? Rotary Friendship Exchange?

We are looking for portrait orientation images of Rotarians, Rotaractors, RYE, and RYLA students doing great things in their communities and abroad. We’re especially excited about photos that highlight our Areas of Focus: Literacy & Basic Education; Disease Prevention; Maternal & Child Health; Community & Economic Development, Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene; Protecting the Environment; and Conflict Resolution & Peacebuilding.

Do you have great images that tell these stories?

• Does your photo tell a story that those not present would understand? If it’s not immediately clear, you can add relevant details to your caption
• Is your photo in focus? Even slightly blurry photos won’t reproduce well across different media
• All photos should be sensitive to the feelings of those in the photo and never embarrass them
• Take the background into consideration. What is it? Who is in it? Does it distract from the people in the foreground?
• Photos with any political or religious agenda should be avoided
• Photos of minors require parental consent or Rotary-approved consent release forms
