On The Fly with DG Chris – Florence Club

I arrived early at the Florence Events Center on Tuesday, November 4, for their noon meeting and was welcomed by a sign and a flock of flamingos celebrating my visit! They “flock” Rotarians’ homes or businesses to show appreciation—what a fun idea.

President Jenna Bartlett-Anderson was already setting up inside. The club publishes a weekly electronic and printed newsletter, funded by sponsor ads.

They had an excellent luncheon catered by the Event Center. It fueled the energy that’s apparent in this club. They have so much fun – especially with their TV-style local news report (thanks, Crystal Farnsworth) and weekly announcements (thanks, Larry Farnsworth.) When a member received an award, everyone else stood up to applaud and celebrate him/her.

But all play and no work doesn’t make a great club. After the meeting I attended their ByLaw review session. I was glad to see that they are keeping those documents up to date and relevant to their club processes.
