The beautiful Lincoln City Cultural Center is home to this club, which meets on Wednesdays at noon. You’ll notice that these are more reserved and business-focused Rotarians. I was glad to be here at this meeting so I could order my holiday wreath. They’ve been selling these for more than 40 years to support their youth projects and scholarships.
Long-time Rotarian Barbara Jenkins-Gibson quizzed the members about some of the local history. “What was [insert business name] before it was this business?” That was a fun way to get table-mates talking, and they raised a little money, too!
They attract potential members with free lunches, then involve them in a subcommittee focused on an avenue of service. They also have an “85 Club” for older members who might otherwise drop out.
They built a Rotary Legacy Plaza of Music at the Cultural Center, and is working on a Rotary Picnic Shelter (a 3-year project) at the new Taft Discovery Park.
The end of the meeting wasn’t the end of the meeting. Several members lingered to discuss their many other projects and catch up with each other. These are some Lincoln City community pillars!
