On Friday, I visited Greater Corvallis on the way back to my home base. Fellowship Chair Mark Kaenel and President Charlie Mitchell arrived early to be sure I was all set. I was also bombarded by a sea of orange. (Lots of OSU Beavers!) This is another fun and rowdy club with multiple community projects.

With the holidays approaching, the club has several service projects. One is their annual Children’s Holiday Craft Fair. Another is providing Thanksgiving dinners to those in need. Here, Youth Services Chair Veronica Hennessey shows the members a graphic of how far they are towards getting enough turkeys for the need. She let members know that if you spend a certain amount at local grocery retailers, they’ll give you a turkey (and you can donate it.)

As I often do, I gave them my take on “Why Rotary,” which illustrates why we are so different than other service-minded and non-profit organizations. Then, I facilitated a discussion about membership – attraction, engagement, and retention. This topic is probably on your mind, too. Take time to talk about it at a meeting – there are great ideas right there in your meeting room!
