On the Fly with DG Chris – Corvallis Club

Rob Thurston’s most recent grant application was for “Remote Learning for Reintegrating Ukraine Veterans into the Work Force.” Watch for an article featuring this amazing project – it will be published in a new Zones 26 and 27 Rotary news and storytelling publication!

Corvallis Rotary Club met on Thursday, February 12th. Out the window is a beautiful view of the golf course. at the Corvallis Club. I was greeted by several members when I entered. On the tables were upcoming program schedules and flyers featuring many of their service projects. They really keep their “why” top of mind!

One of their star members is Joyce Maitland, here receiving a Wings of Service award for Club Meeting and Fellowship Champion. Besides serving her club, she’s the friendly voice you may hear when you call the District with a DACdb question. Word has it, she even got Bruce Allen (DGE) his own badge because he visits regularly.

Terri Homer, another Rock Star, missed the meeting, but she’ll get an award next time.

Rob Thurston stepped in to take the place of Ken Trueba. The first thing he had to do was accept an award from RI for the club’s contributions to PolioPlus last year.

Rob is also very active in the grant writing arena. His most recent application was for “Remote Learning for Reintegrating Ukraine Veterans into the Work Force.” Watch for an article featuring this amazing project – it will be published in a new Zones 26 and 27 Rotary news and storytelling publication!
