This satellite of Medford Rogue Club just started 5 months ago. Club Chair (and also District Membership Cheerleader) Kellie Hill opened the meeting at 5:30 on Thursday, February 26th at Gold Rush Brewery. The first thing on the agenda was to welcome new member, Brian Graunke to the group.
Kellie went on to announce various upcoming events and projects.
One that caught my ear was a fieldtrip they have planned to a local radio station. What a great idea to get out in the community – and also introduce Rotary to someone who might not know what Rotary is.
The members discussed new service project ideas – one came from Carly Seese. She reported an idea from a school to put stencils on the ground to engage students to work through their behavior and self-regulation skills so they could focus on learning.
Carly also talked of how her volunteer service with the schools led her to Rotary. She said those earlier efforts all had an expiration date – when her kids grew up. She said serving in Rotary has no expiration date – the need continues. Good point!
The Satellite Club of Medford Rogue sends out its greetings to the rest of the District.
